Connecticut History – A Story of America

This course will survey three nationally important historical themes in three weeks, culminating in a final reception and tour. Each presentation will provoke thinking about American history through the lens of Connecticut people and their experiences. The course will include a general overview followed by an in-depth examination of one aspect of the theme. Authentic examples of documents and objects will be used as illustrations drawn from the large collection of the Connecticut Historical Society. Discussion and experimenting with ways to “read” objects and documents as evidence will be encouraged. Optional readings will be provided.
