I am preparing an article for a DAR publication on Nathan Hale. Iwould be very interested in the text of your remarks on Hale if they are available. I am aloso very interested in finding an aticle by Mary J. Ortner on Nathan Halle which allegedly discusses the role of Yale College alumni in promoting Nathan Hale. I have seeninternet references to the article as being in the Connecticut historical journal but cannot find it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Great magazine! I have people that want both the "Summer 2011" and the "Fall 2011" issues and the only place I know to purchase the magazine is the Litchfield Historical Society. Are there other locations that sell this magazine and if so can you tell me where they are? Thank you for your time, Joe Goyette

We are also running a Civil War program from August 8-12, 2011. Of particular interest is the involvement of Farmington residents in the war, particularly CT 16th INF Co. C, which fought at Antietam. We are looking into medicine along the frontlines, military outfits and weapons, cultural changes in clothing during this time, and CT's involvement from the manufacturing perspective.

I have a story that was handed down by my father of another underground railroad site in barkhamsted. This is currently on state land. A root cellar that was hidden from view along the then main road to barkhamsted and the lighthouse. During my lifetime a stateworker took the two huge stone slabs that was the roof of this place. Other then that no more damage has been done to the site. This was the next farm over from my family's. My great grandfather was a boy of 12 when the civil war started. So the telling hadn't changed much and we knew the layout of the farm. Would anyone like to know about this place?

As an old-fashioned reader, I very much enjoy viewing the wonderful pictures in a magazine format, but recognize that we are all trying to become more tech-savvy in today's world. My principal comment would be that you should not replace the magazine format, but supplement it with a Kindle-friendly edition. Personally I find that taking this magazine along on a trip is not that difficult. And the winter edition was really excellent.

I would love to have it on my Kindle. A full-issue in a PDF would be nearly as good -- better images that way, but less portable. I think it would be an excellent expansion (not a replacement) for the magazine. It would certainly appeal to the younger audiences, a group that historical publications have difficulty in reaching. I would be willing to purchase a PDF or Kindle version, as it would prevent my having to deal with the storage of the magazine -- my house overflows with materials too good to throw out. Please go for it!

I really enjoy the hard copy but too often it's left at home and right now I'm reading this page on my iPod Touch. It would nice to have the option to read it on the go.
